Flavored vs Unflavored Colombian Coffee: Which Bag Fits You?

Choose an explicitly flavored coffee when you want a named flavor such as vanilla or hazelnut. Choose a classic roast when you want to compare the coffee’s own stated tasting profile. A chocolate note in a product description is not the same as a coffee sold as chocolate flavored.

At CoffeeAnd USA, ANASU Vanilla Flavored Medium Roast and ANASU Hazelnut Flavored Medium Roast are the named flavored options. ANASU Armenia Medium Roast and ANASU Manizales Medium Dark Roast are examples from the classic roast lineup. All four current listings offer 0.55 lb ground-coffee bags.

Flavor name or tasting note?

What you read How to use it when shopping
Vanilla Flavored Select this if vanilla is the flavor you want
Hazelnut Flavored Select this if hazelnut is the flavor you want
A chocolate tasting note Read it as a flavor description, rather than proof of an added chocolate ingredient

A product name is a helpful first filter, but it is not a complete ingredient, allergen or nutrition statement. If any of those details are important to your purchase, request the current package information before ordering. The word flavored alone does not establish whether a coffee contains sugar, a particular nut ingredient or a specific flavoring process.

When a flavored bag makes sense

A named flavor can make a familiar daily recipe feel different without adding another preparation step. Start with your usual dose and brewer, then decide whether you prefer the coffee black or with your normal amount of milk.

Choose Vanilla when that is the aroma you are looking for, or Hazelnut when you want to try the hazelnut offering. If you already know you want a flavored coffee but are undecided between those two, our vanilla versus hazelnut guide focuses on that narrower choice.

When to start with a classic roast

A classic roast is a useful starting point when your main question is medium versus medium-dark, or dark versus French roast. Armenia gives you a medium-roast reference, while Manizales is the medium-dark option with a stated chocolate note.

Keep those comparisons separate at first. If you change the roast, add a named flavor and alter the milk all in one cup, it becomes harder to identify what you enjoyed. Our medium versus medium-dark guide helps you compare two classic choices directly.

Try one flavored and one classic bag

For a two-bag order, choose the classic roast closest to what you currently drink and one flavor you actually want. An Armenia-and-Vanilla pairing, for example, creates two different options for the same household without requiring everyone to like the same drink.

Brew the classic coffee first if you are preparing both during one session. Clean the reusable filter, scoop and brewer according to their instructions between preparations, especially when sharing the equipment with someone who prefers the classic option. Label opened containers so the two coffees stay easy to identify.

Store and reorder around your routine

Open only the bags you plan to use and keep coffee away from heat, moisture and strong odors. The National Coffee Association’s storage guidance recommends an airtight container in a cool, dark location. Buying more than you can comfortably use is less helpful than learning which selection deserves a repeat order.
