Colombian Coffee Food Pairings: Breakfast, Chocolate and Dessert

A useful coffee pairing starts with a food you already enjoy and a coffee whose roast or named flavor appeals to you. Try a medium roast with a simple breakfast, a darker option alongside chocolate, or a flavored coffee with a plain dessert. Treat those as experiments, not rules about what everyone should taste.

The suggestions below connect real ANASU products with everyday food. They are editorial pairing ideas, not results from a tasting panel, nutritional recommendations or claims that the food is sold by CoffeeAnd USA.

For a simple breakfast: keep the comparison easy

Start with ANASU Armenia Medium Roast beside buttered toast or a plain croissant. The point of a fairly simple food is to make your own comparison easier: you can notice whether you enjoy the combination without adding several new flavors at once.

If you usually drink coffee with milk, prepare it that way for breakfast. A pairing you like black may not be the one you prefer with milk, and there is no need to adopt somebody else’s serving style. Our coffee-with-milk guide helps you keep the amounts consistent.

For chocolate: try one roast with two pieces

Choose ANASU Manizales Medium Dark Roast or ANASU Tolima Dark Roast and set out a small piece of milk chocolate and a piece of darker chocolate. Sip the coffee on its own first, then compare each food with the same coffee. You may prefer one chocolate, or find that a different roast would suit you better.

Keep the comparison small. There is no advantage in preparing six coffees before you know what you are trying to learn. Note the actual chocolate you used; cocoa percentage, sweetness and added ingredients can differ substantially between products.

A product description’s chocolate tasting note is not the same as added chocolate flavor. If that distinction matters for dietary reasons, check the current product information and ask questions rather than interpreting tasting language as an ingredient list.

For dessert: decide where you want the flavor

  • Plain cake or a simple biscuit: consider ANASU Vanilla Flavored Medium Roast when you deliberately want a vanilla-flavored coffee alongside it.
  • A dessert you want to taste on its own terms: start with unflavored ANASU Santa Marta Mountain Medium Roast and compare before adding sweetener.
  • A named hazelnut flavor in the drink: choose ANASU Hazelnut Flavored Medium Roast, but do not assume its flavor name establishes the presence or absence of allergens. Confirm the product’s ingredient information when necessary.
  • You already enjoy French roast after a meal: ANASU Huila French Roast lets you keep that preference rather than selecting medium simply because it is often suggested for beginners.

Roast preference is personal. The National Coffee Association’s roast guide provides general context, while the ANASU lineup guide connects the labels to the actual bags.

Make a two-minute pairing note

  1. Write down the bag, brewing recipe and food.
  2. Taste the coffee alone at a comfortable temperature.
  3. Try a bite of food, then another sip.
  4. Record a simple answer: would you serve them together again?

A personal note such as “prefer this with breakfast” is more useful than forcing a professional-sounding flavor description. If the coffee itself is not enjoyable, use our troubleshooting guide before deciding the pairing failed.

Choose for your next meal

For a small gathering, offer one main coffee and a clearly labeled alternative if needed. The brunch planning guide helps you work out batches and refills without guessing from the guest count alone.
